A few weeks ago annual validation forms and the handbook acknowledgement forms were asked to be filled out and brought back to the squadron by October 31st 2014. If these are not returned to the squadron by this date, the cadet is UNABLE to participate in ANY cadet training or activity until the forms are returned. This includes and starts with drill team Monday night. If you have lost your forms, you may get another copy from 2Lt McGinley in the office but it must be filled out by both the cadet and parent in order for the cadet to stay.


Wednesday October 29/14
1. New security procedures have been instituted at the Pembroke Armoury. All outside doors will now remain locked at all times. A member of the Squadron staff will be posted at or near the door to let people in. If you get to the Armoury and no one is at the entrance to let you in please ring the doorbell located at the right of the door.
2. The following direction is provided to cadets regarding cadets participating in activities while in uniform:
-cadets can wear their uniform to/from cadet activities and during supervised events
-cadets are not allowed to stop to partake in unrelated events
-cadets are not allowed to wear uniforms except for officially sanctioned activities
-no cadet has participate in an activity if they (or their parent/guardian(s)) feel uncomfortable or unsafe
3. Ground School will take place at the Pembroke Armoury on Tuesday evenings from 1845-2100hrs.
4. A big thank you to Capt Gerrard and the senior cadets for planning an awesome Halloween Party.
5. The Squadron has been invited to participate in the City of Pembroke’s Remembrance Day parade and ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Cadets are to be dropped off at the Pembroke Armoury at 0930hrs.
Cadets are to come dressed in full uniform (i.e. dress shirt, tie, tunic, parka, black gloves, etc…) and must wear a poppy. New cadets who have not been issued a complete uniform are still encouraged to participate. They are asked to wear appropriate civilian attire and their cadet parka. If a parka has not been issued one will be issued Tuesday morning.
Following the ceremony at the Cenotaph the Squadron will march with the parade to Branch 72 of the Royal Canadian Legion (202 Pembroke Street East) where the cadets will be dismissed. The Ladies Auxillary will be serving chili and refreshments in the main hall following the parade. Cadets will not be returning to the Armoury following the parade. Cadets are to be picked up at the Legion following the parade at approximately 1300hrs (1:00pm).
Please note cadets are not permitted to participate in any other Remembrance Day ceremony in uniform. Cadets are welcome to attend their school or local community ceremony, but cannot do so in uniform.
6. Please note that the Regional Orienteering Competition originally scheduled for this weekend has been postponed to April 2015.
7. Marksmanship will take place on Thursday nights. They will run from 1800 - 2100 hrs on Thursday nights. This week is open to only Wagner C, Wagner S, Rochat S, Fleurant R, Keetch G, and McCafferty. Staff will Not be there until 1800 hrs.
8. The Squadron will be running band practices with the Army Cadets on Thursday nights. These run from 1800 - 2100 hrs. The practices are open to all interested cadets. If you have your instrument, please bring it with you.
9. Drill team will meet on Mondays at the Armoury from 1830 - 2030 hrs. All cadets are welcomed and encouraged to attend. This team will meet on Mondays for the entire year.
10. Next Wednesday will be a sports night. Please remember to wear your red squadron t-shirt. Theses can also be purchased for $15.00 in the office from Mrs. Dombroskie.

As you are all probably aware by now, a serious situation has been unfolding in Ottawa since this morning that impacts us all as Canadians. Our thoughts and prayers are with those directly affected by today's tragic events.
A decision has been made to cancel our regular parade night this evening and Marksmanship and Band tomorrow evening. The intent is to be back up and running for next Monday night’s drill team practice. More information to follow.

1. Lotto Tickets will be going home next week. These tickets are mandatory for every cadet to sell a book. The cost of each book is $50.00. Please see Mrs. John or Mrs. Hodder in order to purchase and pick up your book of tickets.
2. Marksmanship will take place on Thursday nights. They will run from 1800 - 2100 hrs on Thursday nights. This week is open for all cadets except for Wagner C, Rochat S, Fleurant R, Keetch G, and McCafferty (except to help out).
3. The Squadron will be running band practices with the Army Cadets on Thursday nights. These run from 1800 - 2100 hrs. The practices are open to all interested cadets. If you have your instrument, please bring it with you.

2. Orienteering team members are asked to bring their medals in for Wednesday October 15/14 in order to have a picture taken of the team.
3. Marksmanship will take place on Thursday nights. They will run from 1800 - 2100 hrs on Thursday nights. This week it will only be for Wagner C, Wagner S, Rochat S, Fleurant R, Keetch G, and McCafferty.  Juniors will be next week.
4. The Squadron will be running band practices with the Army Cadets on Thursday nights. These run from 1800 - 2100 hrs. The practices are open to all interested cadets. If you have your instrument, please bring it with you.
5. Drill team practice for this week is cancelled due to gliding.
6. Ground school will be held on Tuesday nights from now on at 450 Squadron Garrison Petawawa. Cadets will meet Capt Rochat at the front doors at 1845 hrs. Ground school will go until 2100 hrs.

***IMPORTANT***
We will NOT be leaving Saturday evening as planned for Gliding in North Bay. The bus will now leave the Pembroke Armoury at 0800 hrs on Sunday morning.

Wednesday October 1/14
1. This week the Squadron Handbook and annual validation forms were sent home with the cadets. Please review these. fill out the forms and return to the unit as soon as possible.
2. The fall gliding weekend has been set for October 11-13th. Permission slips were available on Wednesday. Spots are open to the first 40 cadets who return their permission form. If you missed out, you can pick one up on Wednesday October 8/14.
3. Marksmanship will take place on Thursday nights. They will run from 1800 - 2100 hrs on Thursday nights. All cadets are welcome. New and old cadets as well as the rifle team itself.
4. The Squadron will be running band practices with the Army Cadets on Thursday nights. These run from 1800 - 2100 hrs. The practices are open to all interested cadets. If you have your instrument, please bring it with you. Please check in with Capt Duchene in the office upon arrival.
5. Drill team will meet on Mondays at the Armoury from 1830 - 2030 hrs. All cadets are welcomed and encouraged to attend. This team will meet on Mondays for the entire year. Any changes to this can be found weekly here.
