Wednesday Sept 24/14
1. Next Wednesday will be sports night. Please make sure you wear your red squadron t-shirt. Theses are available in the office for $15 if you do not have one. Please see Vicki Dombroskie.
2. This weekend the Orienteering Competition will be taking place in Sudbury. The following cadets will be competing.

3. Marksmanship will take place on Thursday nights. They will run from 1800 - 2100 hrs on Thursday nights. All cadets are welcome. New and old cadets as well as the rifle team itself.
4. The Squadron will be running band practices with the Army Cadets on Thursday nights. These run from 1800 - 2100 hrs. The practices are open to all interested cadets. If you have your instrument, please bring it with you. Please check in with Capt Duchene in the office upon arrival.
5. Drill team will meet on Mondays at the Armoury from 1830 - 2030 hrs. All cadets are welcomed and encouraged to attend. This team will meet on Mondays for the entire year. Any changes to this can be found weekly here.

This weekend is set for our Fall Survival Exercise. It will take place at the Kobylecki property located at 198 Zanders Road off of B-Line Road.
Seniors and staff will go out on Friday, September 19/a4 night at 1800 hrs. This is for F/Sgt and above)
The rest of the cadets are expected to arrive on Saturday, September 20/14 at 0800 hrs.
***If you do not have your health card you will be sent back home with your drive.  You may return to the exercise with it.***
you must also bring life sustaining medications such as epi-pens and puffers if required.

Make sure you bring lots of warm clothing that you can wear in layers. Rain is in the forecast for the weekend.
Wednesday Sept 17/14

Wednesday Sept 10/14
1. Monday Sept.15th will begin another year for drill team practices. This year we are hoping to have two teams (one rifle team as well as the standard drill team). Practices run from 1830 hrs to 1030 hrs. All are welcome. For more information, see 2Lt McGinley.
2. For those Cadets who are interested in attending ground school this year, there will be a meeting on Wednesday Sept 17/14 before the start of the training evening. Please arrive for 1800 hrs to meet with F/Sgt Rochat. All are welcome.
3. Sunday Sept 14/14 will be the day for another Orienteering practice. this will take place from 1000 - 1400 hrs at Jubilee Lodge in Petawawa. Make sure that you bring yourself lunch and a water bottle.
4. Bring in your completed permission forms for the Fall FTX for next Wednesday.


As each year passes, we all get older. And as we all know, there comes a time when one is too old to remain in the Cadet program. That time has come for WO1 Solimine. Happy 19th birthday to you and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Thank you for all of your efforts with the squadron.

Activity:          2014 Fall Survival Field Training Exercise (FTX)
Dates:               19-21 Sep 2014

This activity is open to all cadets with a valid health card. The aim of this exercise will be to introduce junior cadets to basic survival techniques (i.e. shelters, fire, etc…) while at the same time providing an opportunity for senior cadets to practice their leadership and instructional techniques.

**Senior cadets (FSgts and above) will begin the exercise on Friday, September 19th
**Junior cadets will begin Saturday, September 20th
Location: Kobylecki property located at 198 Zanders Road in Laurentian Valley Township.

All meals will be provided.  Cadets will sleep in improvised shelters or squadron supplied tents should the weather

Schedule:
19 Sep 14         1800hrs (6:00 pm) Senior Cadets are to be dropped off at the Kobylecki property
20 Sep 14         0800hrs (8:00 am) Junior Cadets are to be dropped off at Kobylecki property
21 Sep 14         1400hrs (2:00 pm) All Cadets are to be picked up at Kobylecki property

Activity:   2014 Orienteering Practices

Location: Jubilee Lodge, Garrison Petawawa

This activity is open to all cadets with a valid health card. The aim of Orienteering is to introduce cadets to the use of map and compass.

What is Orienteering?

* Orienteering is a sport requiring the use of a map and compass to navigate around a
preset course through unfamiliar terrain.

* Courses are a series of controls (check points) marked on the map and in the forest
with flags (markers).

* Controls are accurately mapped features and the markers are clearly visible as
identified.                 

* Objectives include finding and following the best route to complete the course as quickly as possible with the fewest errors.

Wednesday Sept 3/14 1. Welcome back everyone. As of next week, Cadets will be returning in uniform. Summer dress is the dress code that is in effect. 2. Saturday Sept 6/14 we will be in attendance at Fall Family Festival and Garrison Petawawa Family Day. It's that time of year again!! Welcome back BBQ and Sports Night Wednesday, September 3, 2014 Cadets to be dropped off at the Pembroke Armoury at 1830hrs and picked up at 2100hrs. Dress for cadets is appropriate civilian sports attire with Squadron tshirt (preferred). New recruits will also be accepted at this time. In order for a new cadet to be signed up they must bring their health card and birth certificate and must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian.
