Final Challenge

Cadets attending Final Challenge this weekend must arrive at the Armoury at 1730hrs on Friday, May 30, 2014.  Cadets must have their health card to board the bus and cadets requiring an EpiPen must ensure they have them with them.

Gliding Instructions.

For those cadets going gliding this weekend, you MUST be at the armoury at 5:30 pm tomorrow.  You must have had dinner before hand as none will be provided.

You are required to bring the following items with you:
HEALTH CARD*** If you do not bring your health card, you do not go.
T-shirts/long sleeve shirts, pants, bathing suit, towel, PT gear, indoor and outdoor running shoes, undergarments and socks for 2 days, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, deodorant, face cloth, comb/hairbrush, notebook, pencil bug spray, sunscreen and a water bottle.

If you can not attend, pleas contact Capt Heater Frampton (613) 585-9354 or Capt Dan Duchene (613) 281-6536, so that your space maybe given to another cadet.

Pembroke Kinette Club Fundraising Rain Barrel Sale
Saturday, May 10, 2014
 

638 Squadron will be supporting the Pembroke Kinette Club on Saturday, May 10, 2014 during their fundraising rain barrel sale at the Pembroke Memorial Centre (PMC). Cadets wishing to volunteer are asked to arrive at the PMC at 0800hrs and are to be picked up at 1200hrs. Dress is appropriate civilian attire with your Squadron tshirt. This is an excellent opportunity to support a good cause and collect volunteer hours towards your high school diploma. This event will take place rain or shine.

Tagging

Important Tagging Schedule Changes

 PLEASE ENSURE TO CHECK YOUR TAGGING SHIFT

Tagging Schedule

 
 Cadets that are scheduled to tag at Walmart will be dropped off at Walmart 10 minutes prior to the start of their tagging shift and picked up at Walmart at the end of their shift.

 Cadets that are scheduled to tag at Moncions will be dropped off and pick up at Moncions (East end of Pembroke not at the West end Mall), please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your shift.

 Cadets tagging in Petawawa will... be dropped off at their respective locations 10 minutes prior to the start of your shift. 

 All cadets are to eat a meal prior to tagging as there will be no time provided for meal breaks. Cadets may bring peanut free snacks and are encouraged to bring a filled water bottle with them for the duration of their tagging shift.

 Dress for tagging is C-2 – i.e Tunic, Tie, Dress Shirt etc. – along with the outer layer of the parka if you have one. Cadets are reminded that you are representing 638 Algonquin Squadron and the Canadian Cadet movement. Please ensure your dress, deportment, and behaviour is top notch.

We have received a last minute request from Mayor Ed Jacyno, Mayor of
the City of Pembroke, to assist with their spring clean-up at the
Pembroke Marina on Saturday, May 3, 2014 (this Saturday!). The
Squadron's drill team is asked to support this request. If you are on
the drill team and if you are available, please show up at the Armoury
at 0845hrs. Cadets who show up will move to the Marina at 0900hrs and
stay until 1000hrs when drill team practice starts at the Armoury.
Cadets are asked to wear their red Squadron t-shirts.


Wednesday April 30/14

1. The Rocket Club will meet every Thursday night up to and including Thursday, May 15, 2014 unless otherwise stated. The Rocket Club meets from 1900-2100hrs at the Armoury. The club is open to all cadets in the Squadron. There is a $20.00 fee for cadets who wish to participate in the club. This covers the cost of your rocket (choice of 1 or 3 different styles, 1 rocket engine, all supplies and training necessary to safely build and launch your rocket, 1 supervised launch (date TBC) with an option to purchase additional engines, an invitation to the launch contest (there will be prizes!), and rocket related classes and movie night. Since this is a club and not a competitive team there is no requirement to make it out every Thursday night. Club members are encouraged to attend as many nights as possible, but in fact only about 4 nights are required in order to receive instruction and build your rocket.
2. Cadets who wish to participate in an air rifle range practice and/or attempt to qualify for a marksmanship badge are encouraged to sign up for a Thursday night range practice. Cadets can sign up with Capt Frampton. Range will be held every Thursday night up to and including Thursday, May 15, 2014 unless otherwise stated. Range runs from 1900 to 2100hrs at the Armoury. There WILL BE a range practice on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
3. All questions regarding the tagging taking place this weekend should be addressed to OCdt Wendy McGinley at 819-683-5575 (home), 613-635-6087 (cell), or via email at wendy.mcginley@cadets.gc.ca.
4. There will be a special drill team practice this Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Armoury. The practice will take place from 1000hrs to 1400hrs. Cadets should bring their lunch, water bottle, and any nut free snacks they may require. Cadets will be permitted to go to Pizza Pizza only if they prefer to bring money for lunch. Cadet must bring their complete uniform pressed and ready for inspection.
5. Drill Team practices are held every Monday night at the Pembroke Armoury from 1830-2030hrs unless otherwise stated.
6. Cadets are to see the Supply Officer (OCdt Alex McGinley) to sign for their name tags.
7. Some offers of participation for summer training have been received at the Squadron. As we receive them we will make cadets aware of what courses they have been selected for.
