Tagging

Tagging Schedule 

May 2-4, 2014

Cadets that are scheduled to tag at Walmart will be dropped off at Walmart 10 minutes prior to the start of their tagging shift and picked up at Walmart at the end of their shift.
Cadets that are scheduled to tag at Moncions will be dropped off and pick up at Moncions (East end of Pembroke not at the West end Mall), please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your shift.
Cadets tagging in Petawawa will be dropped off at their respective locations 10 minutes prior to the start of your shift.
All cadets are to eat a meal prior to tagging as there will be no time provided for meal breaks. Cadets may bring peanut free snacks and are encouraged to bring a filled water bottle with them for the duration of their tagging shift.
Dress for tagging is C-2 – i.e Tunic, Tie, Dress Shirt etc. – along with the outer layer of the parka if you have one. Cadets are reminded that you are representing 638 Squadron and uniforms should be at their best.

Wednesday April 23/14

1. The Rocket Club will meet every Thursday night up to and including Thursday, May 15, 2014 unless otherwise stated. The Rocket Club meets from 1900-2100hrs at the Armoury. The club is open to all cadets in the Squadron. There is a $20.00 fee for cadets who wish to participate in the club. This covers the cost of your rocket (choice of 1 or 3 different styles, 1 rocket engine, all supplies and training necessary to safely build and launch your rocket, 1 supervised launch (date TBC) with an option to purchase additional engines, an invitation to the launch contest (there will be prizes!), and rocket related classes and movie night. Since this is a club and not a competitive team there is no requirement to make it out every Thursday night. Club members are encouraged to attend as many nights as possible, but in fact only about 4 nights are required in order to receive instruction and build your rocket.
2. Since no cadets signed up to shoot there will be no air rifle range on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
3. Drill Team practices are held every Monday night at the Pembroke Armoury from 1830-2030hrs unless otherwise stated.
4. Cadets are to see the Supply Officer (OCdt Alex McGinley) to sign for their name tags.
5. Some offers of participation for summer training have been received at the Squadron. As we receive them we will make cadets aware of what courses they have been selected for.
6. Geocaching Saturday, April 26th, 0900 – 1200 hrs (9:00 am – 12:00 pm). Sign up at the table by the office or email Capt. Frampton at gandh.frampton@live.com
Drop off and pick up is at the armoury. Wear pt clothing and running shoes and bring a water bottle.
7. There will be a special drill team practice this Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Armoury. The practice will take place from 1000hrs to 1400hrs. Cadets should bring their lunch, water bottle, and any nut free snacks they may require. Cadets will be permitted to go to Pizza Pizza only if they prefer to bring money for lunch. Drill boots and wedges are mandatory.
8. We will be tagging on Friday, May 2, 2014, Saturday, May 3, 2014, and Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Pembroke and Petawawa. All cadets are required to participate in at least 1 three hour shift over the course of the weekend, however all cadets are encourage to sign up for more than one shift if possible. Every attempt will be made to accommodate selected shifts, but it may be necessary to reschedule some cadets in order to ensure that all locations are covered.
9. Reminder that next week we will be hosting our monthly CO’s Parade during third period.

9. Dave Harris made the announcement that Final Challenge 2014 will be held on 30 May – 1 June 2014 at Camp Legewade in Renfrew. All cadets are encouraged to sign up the for weekend.
10. Our canteen officer, Mr. Luc Garneau, sponsored a draw for a chocolate Easter bunny. The draw was made and FCpl Vanesa Robert was the winner.
11. The staff and sponsoring committee would like to wish everyone a very hoppy Easter!

Best wishes to Cpl Callie Wagner who is moving on to the Regional Marksmanship Competition this weekend in Trenton.  The regional competition is taking place on Saturday at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton.  The teams and individuals who are selected to move on to the National Marksmanship Competition will remain in Trenton and participate in the National mail-in shoot on Sunday.
