Fall Tagging - 2012

Fall Tagging - 23-25 November

Since there is no cost to join 638 Squadron cadets are expected to help participate in fundraising activities. The fundraisers allow the squadron to plan and conduct many of the activities that the cadets participate in.

Tag days are our biggest fundraiser. We run one tagging weekend in the fall and one in the spring. The cadets accept donations from the public in exchange for a paper tag. Cadets are to participate in at least one shift per weekend either in Pembroke (Walmart/Pembroke Mall) or in Petawawa (Moncions / LCBO).

Shifts for the upcoming tag weekend have been pre-assigned, however, if you can't attend the shift you've been allocated, please contact O/Cdt Ashworth. If you wish to change your shift, please identify another cadet who is willing to swap with you.

The shift allocations updated on Thursday 22nd November can be found here. Please note, this reflects the latest changes that I know about; if your name is not on here, please turn up and make yourself known to the supervising staff.

Remembrance Day 2012

The Squadron has been invited to participate in the City of Pembroke’s Remembrance Day parade and ceremony this Sunday, November 11, 2012. Cadets are to be dropped off at the Pembroke Armoury at 0930hrs (9:30am) on Sunday.

Cadets are to come dressed in full uniform (i.e. dress shirt, tie, tunic, parka, etc…) and must wear a poppy. Cadets who do not have a complete uniform are still encouraged to participate. They are asked to wear appropriate civilian attire and their cadet parka. If a parka has not been issued one will be issued Sunday morning.

Following the ceremony at the Cenotaph the Squadron will march with the parade to Branch 72 of the Royal Canadian Legion (202 Pembroke Street East) where the cadets will be dismissed. The Ladies Auxillary will be serving chilli and refreshments in the main hall following the parade. Cadets will not be returning to the Armoury following the parade. Cadets are to be picked up at the Legion following the parade at approximately 1300hrs (1:00pm).

Cadets who cannot attend the City of Pembroke’s ceremony are encouraged to attend a ceremony in their local community. If this is the case, please inform the Administration Officer, OCdt McGinley, following the event so that your participation can be recorded on your file.

The officer in charge for this event is Lt Gerrard who will be assisted by Lt Frampton and OCdt McGinley. Questions may be addressed to Lt Gerrard by calling 613-732-1353 or by emailing her at catherine.gerrard@cadets.gc.ca.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
