Updates to the Calendar

There have been some changes made to the blog calendar!

Even though we are still assigned the Easter weekend for gliding, we will be moving our trip forward a day. We will leave from the Pembroke Armoury Thurday April 21st at 6pm and will return on Saturday April 23rd at 4pm. This will still give us our 1.5 days at the airfield and will free up Easter Sunday for the cadets. A permission slip will be sent home shortly.

Communication

A quality of a good leader is the ability to communicate effectively!

Cadets should be receiving a phone call weekly with information about the dress for the regular training night and information about upcoming activities. The message is initiated Sunday and passed down the chain of command (Squadron commander to flight commanders, flight commanders to team commanders, team commanders to cadets).

Good communication is essential in Air Cadets and this calling system only works when the non-Commissioned officers are making sure that their team members are well informed. Since the chain of command works both ways, if a cadet has not received the weekly message by Tuesday night he/she should call their team commander.

If you are not receiving phone calls on a regular basis, please report the issue to WO2 Fakli.

Ottawa

Its official, the cadets of 638 Algonquin squadron will be taking Ottawa by storm on March 26th. Cadets will meet at the armoury at 7:30am and travel to Ottawa to see the parliment buildings and the Aviation and Space Museum. Lunch will be provided.The cadets are to be picked up for 5:30pm.

The dress for this event is cadet uniform, including parka inner.

Last Call For Summer Training

This is the last call for summer training! Any cadets still wanting to apply must send an email to 638Air@cadets.gc.ca ASAP

The email must include:
-First and last name
-Three choices (level one cadets may only apply to General Training)
-Whether you would consider other courses

It is important to remember that not every cadet applying to summer training will be selected to attend. There is a set number of spots for each each course. Cadets will be notified of their status once we receive the information. This is expected ~April 15th.

Cadets Cancelled March 9th

Cadets is cancelled tonight because of the impending snowfall. There will be no cadets next week either due to the March Break. A few reminders:

-Bring back lottery ticket stubs! These tickets need to be returned so that they can be sent off for the draw. All tickets must be submitted by March 23rd.

-There will be a Squadron trip to Ottawa taking place on March 26th. There is no cost for this trip... more information to follow so check the blog for regular updates.
